2011 PT 1

As the New Year begins I thought it would be wise to look back before looking forward . A good year ! Festivals attended, records released, Studios inhabited & adventures had. We had many excellent and well received releases and I spent a lot more time in the studio. Yet somehow, thank god, there is always room to grow. While 2011 was fun a lot of effort was put into place for the year ahead. I guess that's how it works. Winding back the slingshot takes time and strength and hard work takes months to manifest.

I knew that a major change and energy was needed in 2011 to get Dumb Unit through what are becoming increasingly difficult times for music labels. People need ideas and energy to latch on to. I started to look for concepts to embrace and I immediately began working on one that would feature our FAMILY. Although I did not want to expand the label much I got in touch with friends that were not yet on Dumb Unit and invited them to sculpt a release for the label. Specifically Walker and Agaric whose Bend the Light record on WE ARE burnt down rooms the year before. Together with Mino & Simon we began to devise something fun and inviting for the whole roster and DYNASTY was born.

Once we get ideas we send them to our designer Simon Léveillé. Simon is a patient, fluid and fast and so a concept for Dynasty began to quickly take shape. Simon is also used to ideas being changed and morphed as a year goes on (initially we wanted to include pictures of our artists in the frames) I won't say ideas are watered down as much as they are bent and manipulated to absorb changes in budget and scheduling. A big hit for us was our beautiful granny bag that made it’s debut at Sonar. Together with our door handle we managed to make a little mess at the festival.

Recently !

I've been a bit lazy updating this blog. Luckily I've not been such a slouch in other departments ! The early mornings are occupied by studio time and I'm in early before the phone and email start ringing. I Highly recommended this for anyone that gets as distracted or worked up as i do. 

So i'm chopping away at my solo material but there is still a slew of collaborations coming up first. Up next is the Dynasty 2 EP with Cesare ! I'm really happy with this one and we've been working on it for a while ! it's jamming on the dancefloors too .

Released a few weeks ago my track Vanitas together with Seph made a nice run on the Beatport and Decks charts . You can find it for sale here as part of the larger Dynasty 1 EP ! 

A few weeks ago i also recorded a podcast for our friends on Ibizia-Voice. It's filled with a lot of unreleased and hidden gems so check it out. it's also available on our sound cloud account here. 

It is absurd to divide people into bad or good.
